Intermedic is a public emergency service based on a private company and works in cooperation with the 144 emergency system.

In the summer of 2008 Intermedic gained the attribute "Anerkannter Rettungsdienst IVR" by the official association for emergency service Interverband für Rettungswesen IVR.

Besides the public emergency service, Intermedic cooperates with several hospitals, doctors and insurances and offers their services to attractive price-performance ratios.

Since economy measures, budget cutbacks, the reduction of resources and the lowering of staff on the weekends makes it hard to take care of the increasing  number of emergency calls, even partner-companies assign a lot of orders to Intermedic. The delegation of emergency calls enables relief to the single companies and makes it possible for everyone to focus on their basic tasks.

Quite frequently trends have been recognized and innovations have been made, whereas they have been standardized with a delay elsewhere.

For example, Intermedic was one of the first companies in the Swiss emergency service that used the internet as an important platform for public relations.
